The Master’s Program in Literature at the Faculty of Humanities (FIB), Diponegoro University (Undip), successfully held an alumni networking webinar titled “Media and Religious Scholars for the Advancement of Women in Literary Works” on Friday, May 9, 2025. The event was conducted online via Zoom Meeting and streamed live on the official FIB Undip YouTube channel.
The webinar was attended by students from the Master’s Program in Literature at FIB Undip, postgraduate students from UIN Imam Bonjol Padang, as well as academics and literary enthusiasts from various institutions. This activity aimed to strengthen inter-campus academic networks and explore critical discourses on the roles of media and religious scholars in supporting the advancement of women through literary works.
The event was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities Undip, Prof. Dr. Alamsyah, M.Hum., who emphasized the importance of synergy between knowledge, media, and religious values in fostering literary literacy that supports women. “Women play an essential role in literature both as subjects and as agents of change. Therefore, spaces for dialogue like this are necessary so that their voices are increasingly heard and acknowledged,” said Prof. Alamsyah in his opening remarks.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Yulfira Riza, M.Hum., from the Faculty of Adab and Humanities at UIN Imam Bonjol Padang, delivered an insightful presentation on the relationship between media, religious scholars, and the representation of women in literature. She emphasized that the contribution of religious scholars in shaping religious discourse can encourage the creation of more gender-just literary narratives. Media, in turn, serves as a bridge to disseminate progressive ideas concerning women.
The webinar was moderated by Bilqis Annisatus Salsabila, S.S., who skillfully guided the discussion. The interactive discussion session became a highlight, with participants actively asking questions and sharing perspectives on the presented theme.
This event reaffirmed the commitment of the Master’s Program in Literature at FIB Undip to fostering an inclusive intellectual forum that responds to contemporary issues, especially those concerning the roles of women in literature, media, and religion.
