Novels are literary works that are very interesting to study. Therefore, researchers chose to use novels as the object of this research. This research is entitled “Resistance of Egyptian Female Characters Against Patriarchal Repression in the novel Chicago by Alaa al Aswany”. This research aims to analyze the form of patriarchal repression experienced by the two figures, namely Syaima’ Muhammadi and Marwah and the resistance they put up against this. This research is a qualitative descriptive type using the literature study method. To support the research, the theories involved are novel structuralism, feminism and patriarchal theory under the auspices of literary sociology and resistance theory. The results of the research show that there is patriarchal repression experienced by the two Egyptian female figures in the private sphere which is classified into the categories of marriage, violence and sexuality, culture. The resistance or resistance they carry out is classified into two forms, namely open and closed. The more open resistance that is carried out shows the real efforts of the characters to defend themselves against the gender-based injustices they experience. In patriarchal culture, women are represented as obedient, submissive and helpless creatures, while men are active and superior figures. Women are often required to passively accept and live their lives without knowing about other choices they can make.
