Semarang, February 20, 2025 – The Master’s Program in Literature, Faculty of Humanities (FIB) Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), held the Soft Skill Training for Master’s Students in Literature 2025 on February 20, 2025, at 08:00 WIB in the Seminar Room, Building D, FIB UNDIP. This training carried the theme “Literature in the Creative Industry”, aimed at providing relevant knowledge and skills for Master’s students in Literature to face the challenges and opportunities in the rapidly growing creative industry. The event was attended by 40 participants, consisting of students and faculty members from the Master’s Program in Literature at UNDIP.
Opening Remarks
The event began with welcoming remarks from Eta Farmacelia Nurulhady, S.S., M.Hum., M.A., Ph.D., the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences at UNDIP. In her speech, Eta emphasized the importance of soft skill training for students, especially in the context of an ever-evolving industry. “Literature is not only confined to the academic world, but it also plays a significant role in the creative industry. This soft skill training is held to prepare Master’s students in Literature to contribute to the creative sector, whether through literary works or other necessary skills,” she stated. Eta also highlighted the importance of developing communication, creativity, and other skills that will support students in their professional careers.
Main Speaker: Triyanto Tri Wikromo
The soft skill training continued with a session led by Triyanto Tri Wikromo, a senior journalist and editor from Suara Merdeka Semarang. As a seasoned practitioner in the media and creative industries, Triyanto shared his knowledge on how literature can be applied in the creative industry, including in the mass media, publishing, film, and digital literature.
Triyanto explained how strong and creative literary works can influence the industry and how writers and literary enthusiasts can enhance the quality of their works to be more relevant and accepted by a wider audience. He also provided tips on how Master’s students in Literature could develop soft skills such as writing, critical thinking, and adapting to the ever-changing industry trends.
Moderator: Ilham Awaliyah Pimay
This session was moderated by Ilham Awaliyah Pimay, an alumnus of the Master’s Program in Literature at UNDIP, who is now active in various creative projects. As the moderator, Ilham successfully kept the session dynamic and interactive, allowing participants to ask questions and engage in discussions about the application of literature in the creative industry. Ilham also facilitated dialogue between the speaker and participants regarding the challenges faced by the literary world in an increasingly digital industry.
Discussion and Q&A Session
The Q&A session was one of the highlights of the training. Participants eagerly asked questions about how to enhance their skills in facing the creative industry and how they could utilize their literary knowledge to create opportunities in the media and entertainment sectors. Triyanto provided in-depth answers, offering practical examples that students could apply in their professional lives.

The Soft Skill Training for Master’s Students in Literature at UNDIP concluded with the hope that students would apply the skills gained during the session and use them in their careers in the creative industry. In the closing remarks, Vice Dean Eta Farmacelia Nurulhady emphasized the importance of balancing hard skills and soft skills, and she expressed the hope that Master’s students in Literature could contribute more to the creative field by utilizing their literary background.
